Move Rerit into Applications and launch it once. Keep the menu-bar process running.
macOS uses this permission so Rerit can copy the selected text and paste the result back.
Watch the status capsule. Your original words remain safe if the request cannot complete.
Fast diagnosis
Confirm Rerit is running in the menu bar. Then check that ⌘ ⇧ E is not assigned to another app.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and enable Rerit. Quit and reopen the app after changing access.
Rerit needs an internet connection for the rewrite request. The status capsule will show whether it is capturing, requesting, or replacing.
Open Rerit from Applications. If the main window was closed, the app may still be running in the menu bar.
Product answers
Only the selection is sent when you press the shortcut. It is processed for the rewrite and is not retained as document content afterward.
Free accounts receive 5 rewrites each day. Pro accounts receive 1,000 rewrites each day.
